Tonight, we’ll read the seventh chapter of “Little Women” by American author Louisa May Alcott, published in 1868, titled “Amy’s Valley of Humiliation”. Following the lives of the four March sisters—Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy—the novel details their passage from childhood to womanhood and is loosely based on the author and her sisters. In the previous chapter, shy Beth and old Mr. Laurence become friends. Beth reminds Mr. Laurence of his beloved but deceased granddaughter. He gives Beth a piano as a gift.
